Writing with the Lamy Safari is much different than I had envisioned. I assumed, quite incorrectly, that it would feel somewhat similar to writing with the Kaweco Ice Sport. However, it has a much different feel. It might be because I am using a good ink, or that the Safari is much longer, even before posting, but the Kaweco has more of a glide feel to writing.
The Safari is definitely a nice pen. But I am reminded of the movie The Cutting Edge. A hockey player can ice skate, but its not the same as an ice skater who is an Olympian.
Don’t get me wrong, the Lamy Safari feels great. But the Kaweco is effortless. I think the Kaweco will remain my daily work pen, but the Lamy will see plenty of use in my home office.
